Desert Care Network’s Healthy Over Hungry® Cereal Drive Collected a Record 4,114 Boxes of Cereal

Because Breakfast Doesn’t Take a Summer Vacation

PALM SPRINGS, Calif – June 14, 2018 – Desert Care Network (DCN) is pleased to announce that its two Coachella Valley hospitals, Desert Regional Medical Center and JFK Memorial Hospital donated 2,330 boxes of cereal and $1,802 to FIND Food Bank, a member of the Feeding America network and the Coachella Valley’s only Regional Food Bank. DCN’s Morongo Basin hospital, Hi-Desert Medical Center donated 1,784 boxes of cereal to The Way Station in Joshua Tree, and donated $5,358 to FIND Food Bank during its Healthy Over Hungry® Cereal Drive, which ran from June 1-8, 2018.

“The donations we collected during our ‘Healthy Over Hungry® Cereal Drive’ will help provide local children and adults struggling with hunger with a healthy breakfast during the summer, and I am so grateful for the support of our staff and community in this effort,” said Michele Finney, chief executive officer of Desert Care Network. “Good nutrition is essential to good health, and we wanted to help lead the fight against hunger in the Coachella Valley and Morongo Basin.”

We know that summer is a particularly tough time for many food-insecure families because children can no longer rely on schools for nutritious meals putting an added burden on these families.
