Desert Regional Medical Center Congratulates Dr. Shubha Kerkar’s Election as an IDSA Fellow

Dec 11, 2020

Dr.-Kerkar-LabcoatDesert Regional Medical Center is proud to announce Dr. Shubha Kerkar’s election as a Fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA). Dr. Kerkar serves as the Medical Director of Infectious Diseases at Desert Regional Medical Center. Fellowship in the Society is a recognition of honor conferred upon those who have achieved professional excellence in the field of infectious diseases.

“It is a true honor to be recognized by the IDSA for my dedication to the field of infectious diseases at Desert Regional since 1991,” said Shubha Kerkar, MD. “This year has been especially challenging for all healthcare professionals, but even more so for those of us literally on the frontlines as we care for our community members impacted by COVID-19. I am truly humbled to receive this honor and commit to continuing my work to care for our patients with COVID-19 and other infectious diseases.”

“On behalf of the entire staff at Desert Regional Medical Center, I want to congratulate Dr. Kerkar on her Fellowship in the IDSA,” said Michele Finney, Desert Care Network CEO. “Dr. Kerkar’s tireless dedication to the field of infectious diseases is second-to-none. Dr. Kerkar was on the frontlines in our valley during the AIDS epidemic, and she continues that commitment to our community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our staff and the community are extremely appreciative of her devotion to excellent patient care.”
