Desert Care Network employees support FIND Food Bank during Hunger Action Month

Sep 9, 2024

Indio, California – Desert Care Network employees will support the work of FIND Food Bank during a volunteer sorting and packaging event on Tuesday, Sept. 10 from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at FIND’s warehouse and distribution center, 83775 Citrus Ave., Indio. Staff from JFK Memorial Hospital, Desert Regional Medical Center and Hi-Desert Medical Center will attend.

“Our hospitals are dedicated to the health of those who live in our desert communities,” said Karen Faulis, CEO of JFK Memorial Hospital in Indio. “Hunger and food insecurity can dramatically impact a person’s health, and we often see that impact among our patients in the hospital. That’s why we support the important work of FIND Food Bank, with volunteer events like this one. We hope the community will join us in raising awareness during Hunger Action Month.”

In addition to the volunteer packing event, Desert Care Network also hosts the Healthy Over Hungry Cereal Drive in June, to raise donations to support FIND’s summer feeding programs for children when the schools are out of session. Desert Care Network also provided a $10,000 donation to FIND during its telethon in April.

This September, two buildings on the campus of Desert Regional Medical Center – the belltower of the Stergios Building and the façade of the Comprehensive Cancer Center -- are lit up in orange light – the official color of Hunger Action Month.
